       Robert Stanton "Bobby" Greenwood, Jr. is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour for seven years (1969 through 1975). Greenwood was born in Cookeville, Tennessee. Prior to his professional career, he was twice ranked in the Top Ten Amateurs in the United States by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. He was a three-time NCAA-All American at North Texas State University and was inducted into University of North Texas Sports Hall of Fame on November 2, 2002 in Denton, Texas. He was inducted into the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame on September 5, 2007 at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was inducted as a charter member of the Riverside Military Academy Centennial All-Sports Hall of Fame on October 13, 2007 in Gainesville, Georgia. Greenwood is now a golf course architect out of his hometown, Cookeville, Tennessee.

All-America Golf Teams: Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA)

        Bobby Greenwood was Three-Time NCAA at North Texas State University (now UNT), Denton, Texas.

1961: Honorable Mention NCAA;  Won the Southwest Recreational Collegiate Tournament  in Ft. Worth, Texas;  Defeated Jack Nicklaus in semi-finals of Colonial Amateur in Memphis, Tennessee; Medalist at TN State Amateur.

1962: Second Team NCAA.

1963: First Team NCAA;  Won the Southern Intercollegiate Championship at Athens, Georgia.

Induction to the 2002 UNT Hall of Fame

        "Bobby Greenwood, a three-time letter winner in golf at North Texas from 1961 to 1963 who helped lead the Eagles to three consecutive Missouri Valley Conference championships.  As a senior, he led the Eagles to the NCAA championship tournament in 1963, when North Texas placed third.  Greenwood received honorable mention All-America honors as a sophomore in 1961 and was a second-team All-American as a junior and the coveted first-team All-America as a senior."

        Bobby Greenwood won the 1965 & 1968 Sunnehanna Amateur Championship in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. In 1965, he set the course record 7-under-par 63 which is still the course record and tournament record of 269 which was tops until Allen Doyle set new 72-hole record.

Golf House Tennessee ~ Past State Open Results

        Bobby Greenwood won the 1968 State Open held at Old Hickory Country Club.  His eight shot margin of victory is the largest in Tennessee Open history.  Final result: 67-74-67= 8-under-par.

        Only six other players in the State (Tennessee) History have won the State Open and the State Amateur.
